In Loving Memory of Power Shot A60

Our camera is dying.

It IS older than Ella. We've had many great times together in our 4 years and 7400 photos. It has survived hard falls and sandy drops. It recorded the arrivals of both our children, as well as our travels and travails. But now it's time to say goodbye.

Here are some memories from our dear PowerShot A60

This was Photo Number 7, taken April 12, 2004. (Photos 1-6 got deleted. They must've been even uglier than this one!)
Here's our first family picture, Photo 17, taken in Corvallis OR.

March 8, 2008-- Photo 7433--Quite different from that first picture in Oregon. Here's how I feel now with two kids and 30 degrees of more heat to deal with. And you can see that our camera has issues. Photo 7434. Here's Ella teaching her dolls a church lesson.
Poor Canon Power Shot A60 is ready for camera heaven.
Any suggestions for a replacement?

Yes! The Canon Powershot SD series. They have the largest LCD screen, you can do video WITH zoom and it's just awesome. Depending on what you're looking for - they have the older models like mine, SD630, 6.0 MP for cheap or they go up from there to like 10MP. Anyway, good luck. If you want us to get you guys one and send it let me know!

First of all. I love that preggo shadow picture. How clever. Second, check out consumerreports.org. I always check there when I am going to buy something new that I want to last through at least 7000 uses and lots of abuse. If you don't have a subscription e-mail me and I will let you use mine.

you're totally right mere, that was a typo. i thought 5/06 was july for some reason. but ephraim went to a conference in florence in may 06. i couldn't go because i was 8 months pregnant with isaac. rats! it was fun because melayna was in oregon at the time and he could brush up on his italian with her.

any more suggestions on the replacement camera, anyone? we'll probably stay with powershot, but i'm liking nikons... who knows.

My family likes nikon. Jackie loves her sony whatever it is...you will have to ask her. It's tiney. I went camera shopping a year ago and it all depends on what is important to you. I had 3 important factors....It had to be thin and small. I wanted the highest power optical (not digital) zoom I could get. And of course it had to have high megapixals. You can always get huge memory for them...so that's not even and issue. At the time some were still coming with regular batteries, and that is a definite turn off....don't even go near those. So when I was shopping the sony, nikon, and olympus were my top 3. They were all small and durable. The Sony and Olympus had the largest view screens on the back. Nikon and Olympus had the biggest optical zoom. So I went with Olympus and I love my camera...it's held up well. It's the Olympus FE-240. It's 7.1 megapixel and 5x optical zoom.
