Bruddah Eph

Ephraim recently reached perfection. Before that he was very close. He flosses everyday, contributes the maximum to his IRA, and makes al dente saimin (ramen noodles), which he could eat everyday. He's so good that a girl in high school once told him he only needed one more thing to be perfect: guitar skills.

Yesterday he asked me why girls melt for guys who play guitar, which I thought was pretty obvious--they're just dreamy. We'd just seen Stranger than Fiction and Ephraim was amazed that Will Farrell could just pick up a guitar, strum a few chords, sing a few lines, and get the girl. It is pretty funny how that works. But it's true.

Think back to college. Raise your hand if you DIDN'T try to learn a few guitar chords in college to impress a girl/guy. Well then in high school. See? I attended one beginner guitar class with a friend at BYU. The room was full of romantic hopefuls, hoping to strum their way to romance, hoping that Michael Row Your Boat Ashore would do the trick.

Well, with none of this really in mind, I gave Ephraim an ukulele for Christmas. He's been strumming a few chords and singing a few lines, and we think he's reached perfection. (In an easy Iz Kamakawiwo'ole way. NOT a jumpy Jake Shimabukuro way.)

This is hilarious. I gave a talk a couple weeks ago in church and said the same thing about Christian. How the only thing he needed to reach perfection was to learn how to play guitar. Maybe the two of them should get together and learn.

Melinda- that's funny. I agree. I majored in music in college, and many of my guy friends (who could already sing) learned guitar and would sit arond a strum. In a short time, there would always be a flock of girls gathered.
That's great that you are in Nursery! I think that's the coolest romm in the church! I was the Primary Choister, and I always went in there to sing a few songs with them. Waga is wonderful, and Kakala is a very funny lady. I didn't know her as well as I knew Waga, but Kakala's sister (Lineni Esikia) was my Visiting teaching partner, and she was just like gold. She was so sweet and humble and wonderul and pure- she just melted my heart every time we went out. Tell Waga and Kakala hello for me. I'm excited about our nersery calling. We start this week. It sill be fun to have a calling with Sean as well.
Enjoy the heat!
Love Jessi

I know, there's just something about a guy and a guitar that is so attractive! But I like a guy that plays piano maybe even more (which Scott does). :) I'm glad you all find your husbands to be so nearly perfect. That is a good quality in a wife, I think.

I think we all need a video of this! Amazing. Way to go Ephraim!

This is funny especially because I am want to be the one who plays the guitar in our relationship. Although, I'm not sure that it would make me perfect. I'm pretty sure Jake would not like me to add that to the list of things that I like to do in my non-spare time.
