Annie, Heidi, Madeline, Mowgli, Babar, Nacho--these storybook orphans are Ella's heroes. She fantasizes about not having parents.When we read a library book about young Franklin D. Roosevelt losing first his mom, then his dad, she gasped, "He's an orphan?!" Smile.
In fact we recently adopted an orphan named Sarah who mysteriously looks a lot like Ella. Unfortunately the two have never met; whenever Sarah shows up she informs us that Ella's out taking a walk.
