Ella's Entertaining Life

I can't seem to do anything but complain lately. So it's definitely good I haven't posted in awhile. But I do feel obligated to post something. Here's a tidbit about Ella.

Ella changes her name daily. Yesterday she was Penny from The Rescuers and she made me talk like Bernard and Miss Bianca (Bob Newhart was pretty easy, I just stuttered a lot, Eva Gabor was trickier). Today she couldn't get out of bed for three weeks because she had "lumonia" like Timmy on Secret of Nimh. Last week when we got a package from my sister she spent two days as Shellie and called Isaac her husband Jason.

Every morning she makes me do the Wake Up Show with her. It goes something like this:

Me: Hi there, and welcome to the Wake Up Show. I'm your hostess Kathy and I'm here with our volunteer, but I don't know her name because she's sleeping, so I'll just call her Lulu.
Ella: (eyes closed, whispering) My name's SARAH!
Me: Oh, I think her name is Sarah. And now we'll start with round one, the Gentle Tap.

We go through three or four rounds, trying A Kiss on the Cheek, Tickle, and finally an Invitation to Breakfast, and that usually makes her eyes open.

Sounds sweet, huh. Well, it gets tiring every single morning. She also requests a Cooking Show when I'm baking (my name has to be Susan), a Driving the Car show, and Putting on Jammies Show.

The girl also refuses to go to school, that's another issue I'm sure you'll hear more about later. When we took her to the school to observe the other kids standing in lines, learning songs, and doing worksheets, she was pulling my arm off bucking like a mustang. Then she started yelling, "I'm never coming to this school. Not now, not when I turn five, NEVER!" They said to try again when she's "ready". I wonder if we should try a Get Your Little Spoiled Self to School Show.

What an awesome little girl! So entertaining! Right now with a one-year old I'm doing all the entertaining - send her over our way!

And sorry to hear about the school deal. But I can't blame her - life at home seems way more fun to me, too!

Wow, I am very impressed with the performance parenting. I can pull it off occasionally, but only because I'm part time. We were worried about Miriam starting school since when we took her to watch she spent the time with her face buried in my leg. Then when I asked her about it later, she said she was excited about it. Sometimes she does better when we're not around and she is forced to deal with things on her own. Does she start in September?

If it's any consolation, Paul says he doesn't want to go to kindergarten, and any mention of school has him whimping and whining. He wants to go to preschool again, and I feel like a loser mom for having to work full-time so I can't take him to preschool again ;( Hopefully after his open house and visit to the new school at the end of our block, he'll feel better.

I loved the cooking show when you told me about it the first time. What an awesome parent you are. But I admit that playing reality tv every day could get a little annoying. I like hearing about it second hand anyway.
