We've officially been in Samoa 1 year tomorrow! Yay for us! And...I think I'm going a little crazy. To improve the dingy feel of our shabby home, last Saturday we painted the living room.

Two walls, two different colors. One wall is a soothing "Watercolor Blue". It matches our new curtains, and looks nice.

The other wall across the room is not soothing. It's called "Pomegranate" and it was a mistake. As we were painting I kept hoping it would look different dry. But no, the color blinds you, it glares red on everything in the room, when you stand near it you feel 3 degrees hotter, you think there's a huge fire truck parked in the house. Who thought painting a wall red was a good idea?! (I know, me obviously.)

So guess what we'll be doing this Saturday.Staying as far away as possible from our crazy house!

Bekah insisted on painting the girls room pink and purple the year before last. Then maybe six months later, we switched rooms, so they would have more room to play and so guess who had the pink and purple room. (Hint, there are only two rooms in our house.) Anyway, so then we painted it white again. I think the bathroom is still yellow, but we don't mind that. (We almost repainted our apartment here, but paint is like 60 dollars a gallon here). I always want to do murals, but Bekah won't let me.
You could always paint some white stripes across it and some stars on the blue wall and have it be an americana room! Red is a truly hard color to get right. It is my favorite color and so I do have some red at home but it took me a lot of paint samples on the wall to get what I liked.
I WANT your red wall! I'll trade you for my white ones.
I TOTALLY sympathize! We painted our bedroom wall a light tan color once (and there was a TON of wall) and it looked pale pink when we were done. I didn't want to tell Dallon (he's color blind when it comes to pinks), I just kept hoping that with the other walls adarker brown and the lighting it would somehow change the look, but alas, we ended up repainting the whole thing. Did I say we? I meant Dallon. He wasn't thrilled... :)
Melinda- this is hysterical! I love the blue and white- and actually, bright colors are typical of the island. If you would just paint the OUTSIDE of your house that color you would fit right in! Congrats on your 1st year! I felt like 1 yer was a little short- I could have stayed for another. Love Jessi
Hi Eph and Meli,
I really miss you guys all of the sudden. I want to come visit you and your crazy house right now! I know your parents are coming December, Meli, but maybe I could come, too? :) It would be so fun.
Ha ha...that has happened to me before too. I can see why you don't want this color in your home...but it is kind of fun, aside from the blinding aspect.
That is SO something I would do! Well we are near an IKEA if you ever need anything! I don't think the red looks that bright. but it IS the same color as my summer nail polish. ;)
pretty funny...
