Remember how awesome Ephraim's birthday was this year? Well, for my birthday he took me to Fiji. It was pretty awesome. And I felt overwhelmingly spoiled.
Thank you to our amazing friends who watched the kids and made it possible for me sit through a whole meal, relax for hours, and not answer to "Mama" for an entire week.
It may take a couple posts to cover our trip, so you'll feel like you're traveling right along with us...without the luggage and fatigue. I hope it's not too dull for you, but the main mission of this blog was to keep family and friends informed on what we're doing while we're so far away. So that's what you're gettin' with these posts. As always feel free to skip, skim for pictures, or "mark all as read" at your pleasure.
Bula Vinaka!

one whole week in Fiji alone with husband? Oh my gosh that's the perfect birthday present. Christian are you reading this? if so take NOTES!
btw, Happy late birthday.
Oh MAN! The second I heard about your trip (w/out kids) I was immediately like, "WHAT?! She can't do that!!!" Because that's what I want to do. Leave my kid behind. Ha ha. Just kidding. Sort of. Just for a little while would be nice. Her newest thing is "I need it! I need it!" The second we don't want to give her something. Followed with tantrum on the ground making us look like total idiot parents.
Wow! Figi! That is totally on my list of places to go. Especially now as I sit at 14000 ft in the Alps (we are in Murren, above Interlaken, for the weekend. I do not live at 14000 ft. I would die for sure). It is pretty cold here but oh so beautiful. I can't wait for the rest of your posts and pictures.
Fun. A week in Fiji. Was there any business involved, or was it just for fun? We are actually loving being back in socal. Waves have been pretty nonstop, which helps, although so has school, so I only get out a few times a week. I want to know what you did in Fiji. Any jobs teaching Japanese and Chinese out there?
i want to go to fiji too! yes, you do have a nice husband to take you on a kidless week-long trip after HIS birthday events! :)
I don't know which becky you are, or if I even know you, but I am more jealous of you than I am of Eph and Meli. We were exactly where you are at one of our stops duirng our honeymoon (it was Cailin's first experience with snow) and it Is gorgeous! I just realized how un-manly the word gorgeous sounds. Better to use a word like killer, dope, or solliiiiiid! Anyway, I'll quite my rambling. Only I also wish that I could go on a week long trip with my wife without my kids. Could we send them to you guys in Samoa for a week while we go skiing or something? Let me know, seriously.
i agree with iz. fiji was really cool. but being in the alps would be fabulous, becky.
