I mentioned our women's group called W-CAP. They've been coming to my house for sewing classes to eventually be used for microenterprise home businesses. We've got some converts to sewing! Our first two days we made bags: totes and mini coin bags w/ drawstrings. Barbara Gaddy was our expert instructor. We used a pattern for one-hour totes. The finished products:

Today we made culottes or "comfies" as our instructor Joan Holland called them. Culottes are loose, calf-length pants. Like a skirt with legs. They turned out really big, but it was a good learning experience.
This little one is Owen's friend who was born about two weeks before him. (Here's a photo of them together pre-birth.)

Keep us posted about the latest tsunami warning you are under from the earthquake. We miss you terribly!
What fun! How often do you meet to sew? (sorry if you wrote that and I missed it.) I would love to be in a sewing class. Looks like the ladies are having fun and are so proud!
That's not Owen is it, standing against the table? If it is, he looks way different than the photo down below! but I'm trying to think, who else has a palagi baby boy? :)
you're right, robbie, sorry i didn't clarify. there are a few palagi babies around. they're so fun to watch interacting. and the ladies just LOVE them!
That looks so fun! I love the fabrics you guys have. You'll have to post more finished projects.
