On Friday night there was a nice concert at the stadium. Adeaze and Aaradhna came to American Samoa, and our PTO sold hot dogs, drinks, and glowsticks. Things were hoppin'! These pictures are blurry, but give you an idea.
And Tauasu our traveling salesman.
Well, I stayed to the end and helped clean up. When I went out to the parking lot to go to my car this is how I found it.
Apparently someone felt like smashing half the windows of our car--the windshield, the drivers window, the passengers window, the sliding door window, and both rear view mirrors.
Of course I was shocked. I walked back in the stadium to my friends and they helped me alert the police and stood by me as I filed a report and made arrangements. Nothing was stolen that we noticed, except the owners manual. An officer drove the car home for me, and I rode in a patrol car.
Ephraim was very disappointed naturally. On Saturday he filled a box with glass and vacuumed out the car. Since there's really nothing that can be done except to move on, he's been on the task of looking for replacement windows, which can be tough on an island. Our good friends the Monsons have loaned us their car for a little while. They're so generous.
And some daylight pictures.
This one is blurry, but caught the frank expression when Isaac had a better look at the damage:

That's pretty much how we all feel. Some people can be so foolish. And others so kind.

really sorry you had to experience that Melinda, I really thought during my time on the island that it was great how there didn't seem to be much in the way of needless vandalism/theft etc a reminder that unfortunately this can happen in any country... hope you are all ok and yay for the Monsons!

Ugh. So so so needless and a hard thing to try and fix. We've had a good share of car troubles lately and can relate to that feeling of seeing your car looking so smashed up. So proud of you for literally picking up the pieces and doing your best to move forward. Hope you are able to find some new windows soon.
Do you have some tarps or plastic to cover the windows? Do you have a carport? That is so sad! Do you want to order a mirror sent to here?
